Ratio here we go...
Dear 5B,
Our next chapter is Ratio. So...
What is ratio?
What do you know about ratio?
Where have you come across ratio?
Is ratio important? What do you think?

Ratio can be used for easier calculation.
ReplyDeleteRatios can sometimes be calculated using models or fractions.
Ratio is used to compare things to know how many times bigger they are.
ReplyDeleteRatio is used to compare things to know how many times bigger they are.
ReplyDeleteRatios can be use to compare sizes like the two pictures or volume or number of things in another group
ReplyDeleteI never heard of that till Mrs Ang told a bit 'bout it. I think it's related to comparing a particular graphic to another specific graphic in it's size, largeness, problem sums including models-like what I just did at 9:30. Hey! Another ratio! Time! I think so... Ratio is probably represented by ( : ). Like what's in between time. But is time ratio? I hopre Mrs Ang has a cure to my above illness!
ReplyDeleteInteresting views.
ReplyDeleteJunhao: Can you explain how does ratio make calculation easier?
Hmmz... Is time 9:30 a ratio??? What do the rest of the pupils think?
Let's get this discussion going.
The Ratio of 2 or 3 quantities indicates how many times the first quantity is contained than the second quantity.
ReplyDeleteWe use this symbol ':' in Ratio. It has the same meaning as 'to'.Exp.'5:2' as'5 to 2'.We compare the quantities of 2 or more sets of objects using Ratio.
I had come across Ratio in my daily life. When I compare objects in school and anywhere. When I make orange juice drink where I mix concentrate to plain water.
I think Ratio is very important as we use it every day life and it has real life applications.
We can count things easier with ratio as when we simplify the amounts, it will be easier for us to multiply(calculate),draw models,...etc
ReplyDeleteYes, i agree with nathan.
Sometimes when some people make milk,
They have to add the correct number of spoons of milk
to the correct number of spoons of milo.
Well, some people add milo to their milk(eg.2:3) so it would be more sweet.
If we add to many number of spoons of milo, the milk will be too sweet!
And it will be bad for our health!
We can also use ratio in many other ways.
For example, when we are buying books , they can say:the ratio of the normal price to the ratio of the current offer price is 10:6 instead of saying how many '%'(percent) discount as for percentage, we have to calculate more.
Ratios can be used to compare number of things.
ReplyDeleteratios helps us to compare things easily
