Time...
What is the time now???
What are the different ways of representing time?
We know that we use the ':' for ratio. Eg. 2:3
But is the ':' in time the same as the ':' in ratio???
What do you think? Hmmmz...

Time can be represented in many ways. For example:12:30, 12.30, 1230, twelve thirty ...etc
ReplyDeleteThe':'for time and ':'for ratio is different.
The ':'for ratio represents 'to' but the':'for time is to separate the numbers such that the first number before the ':' stands for o'clock or hours. The number after the':' stands for minutes.
As Junhoa said, I thimk time is different from ratio in many ways. I agree with him.
ReplyDeleteYes,time is a ratio. As what Junhao has said too, it can be like 12:30, 12:50.....
ReplyDeleteI think time is not a ratio.I agree with Junhao too
ReplyDeleteI already said... Time COMFIRM, GURANTEE,STAMP CHOP SURE, "Aiyaa! Sure one lah!" is a ratio. As what Jun Hao didn't say, time is not the only casewe all goet confused. What about in essays? We do use ratio ':' on them. But I still don't really get what that un-understandable 2 dots! I looked... no, stared...at the textbook, my head went jigsaw! In time, the ratio is used to compare minutes and hours. So my new question is.... TA DA! Do ratios only compare things?
ReplyDeleteWhy must ratio be the only topic so far CLOSELY related to IT?
ReplyDeleteNo way!Its not a ratio.
ReplyDeleteFrom:Meng Jie
It is not that ratio is closely related to IT. It's because our Math lessons from now on,... is going to be ICT-based. :)
ReplyDelete12:30 = 12.30pm = 1230 is not a ratio. There is no comparison. It tells the time NOW.
ReplyDeleteHowever, we can compare time.
For example,
Mengjie takes 30 min to solve one Math question. Fahim takes 5 min to solve the same Math question.
So the ratio of the time taken by Mengjie to the time taken by Fahim to solve one Math question is 30:5 = 6:1.
By looking at this ratio, we can see very clearly that Mengjie takes a longer time than Fahim. In fact, he took 6 times as long as Fahim, which means 5 units more.
So,it is a ratio right?
ReplyDeleteTime is not a type of ratio. We are using ratio to compare time :)
ReplyDeleteTime is NOT ratio!!!
ReplyDeleteOH YEAH! I ALSO THOUGHT THAT TIME IS NOT A RATIO. BY THE WAY, FAHIM DO NOT STAMP YOUR CHOP WHEN YOU ARE NOT SURE......
ReplyDeleteyes!noon,morning,night?whatever?evening.
ReplyDeleteclock or watch.yeah...?!...,,,.,.,
I think time is ratio
ReplyDeleteAiyo Shan yu!! Mrs Ang already said that time is not a ratio lah!! Mrs Ang repeat 2 times already! I think your Chinese too good then your English become worse than chinese.
